Collective Justice

Calvin Burnap | Facilitator

Calvin Burnap is a licensed mental health counselor in Washington state and works as a psychotherapist seeing individuals, couples, and families in private practice. As a psychotherapist and facilitator, Calvin co-creates spaces and relationships that incorporate an understanding of how systemic oppression shapes our understanding and experiences of the world; where creating a safe space to be and talk is paramount; and the relationship is the starting place for healing. Calvin approaches this work grounded in individual healing as a part of collective healing, and vice versa -- and in the understanding that healing past traumas grows our capacity to build lives that support the shared healing of the world and injustice. Calvin has experience as a case manager at Downtown Emergency Service Center, a Program Manager at Harborview Mental Health Services, and as a clinical supervisor for the Crisis Line supporting phone workers and crisis triage for mental health professionals in the community. Calvin is a current volunteer mediator since 2018 with the Dispute Resolution Center of King County. Calvin received his BA from Fairhaven College in Sociology, and a MA in Applied Behavioral Science, Systems Counseling from the Leadership Institute of Seattle at Bastyr University.
